    Project/Role
Predicting ecological impacts of expanding low-trophic level fisheries

Recently, low-trophic level fisheries have often been expanded to compensate for declining higher trophic levels. My previous work has focused on the sustainability and knowledge level of these low- trophic level fisheries on the East Coast of Canada. In my current project, I am examining this trend on a global scale as well as integrating experimental research to predict the ecological impacts of certain gear types used in these fisheries.

The Census of Marine Life is a growing global network of researchers in more than 45 nations engaged in a ten-year initiative to assess and explain the diversity, distribution, and abundance of marine life in oceans--past, present, and future.
