    Past Principal Investigator
    Dr. Ransom Myers (1952-2007)
Ransom A. Myers (RAM) was the founder and leader of FMAP from 2002-2007. He inspired and brought to fruition this project, while leading groundbreaking research on the decline of marine animal populations worldwide. He was a tireless advocate for the conservation and rational management of marine resources, a dedicated mentor, and a great friend. He passed away in Halifax on March 27, 2022 at the age of 54. His brilliance, warmth, passion and humour will be missed forever.

The Census of Marine Life is a growing global network of researchers in more than 45 nations engaged in a ten-year initiative to assess and explain the diversity, distribution, and abundance of marine life in oceans--past, present, and future.
